01. Difficulty swallowing or indigestion
There are a number of reasons why you may be having a problem swallowing, but if it’s gone on for a couple of weeks seek medical advice.
Swallowing difficulties could be a sign of cancer of the oesophagus.
Your doctor should take a careful history and possibly arrange a chest X-ray and a barium swallow. The doctor may also send you to a specialist for an endoscopyto examine your oesophagus and upper gastrointestinal tract.
It’s normal to suffer indigestion at times, especially after a big meal which is fatty or spicy; but if it’s happening a lot or it’s really painful, you should seek medical
