21. Moai from Easter Island (Polynesia)
Easter Island is famous for its stone sculptures of human figures, known as the Moai (meaning “Status”). The island is known to its inhabitants as Rapa Nui. The moai were possibly carved to commemorate significant ancestors and were built from about 1000 BC.
